Watchdog: How an ‘open internet’ threatens the potential of telemedicine technology

The doctor’s office might once more be taking house calls. Telemedicine, or telehealth, is essentially the doctor’s office translated into cyberspace – using apps and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) technology to remotely link doctors and patients. These technologies permit the diagnosing and treatment of patients’ illnesses and ailments from hundreds, if not thousands, of miles away.
